Providing Food for Disaster Victims

Southern Malawi was hit hard by Cyclone Freddy in mid-March 2023. Approximately 1,200 people were killed as a result of the storm. The area where our partner's headquarters church was particularly impacted by the storm. Chilobwe is a mountainous area with many homes built on an incline.

You, Orphan Shade donors, responded to the disaster by funding our partner church to provide food to disaster victims in the Chilobwe area.

Pastor Kampomo sstated "Over two hundred families were blessed and had food in the stomach. God bless you all for great assistance. His hand has extended to reach out to these precious people."

"May I take this opportunity to say “Thank You and God bless you indeed for extending the hand of Jesus by providing food, sugar and soup to Cyclone Freddy victims. Cyclone Freddy came, destroyed and left a lot of pain in many peoples lives."

"Across Chilobwe/Chatha families are living in hunger as they do not have food to meet their dietary needs and are undernourished due to Cyclone Freddy which destroyed their crops and homes. Currently, most of people affected are widows, children and old women. The provision of corn flower was the biggest blessings of their life."

The lady to the left is 90 years old. She said there is God in heaven. Her home was completely destroyed together with her property. She has no one to turn to . There was tears of joy. We comforted her with the Word of God.

Many other groups came and write her name and promised to bring food. And they never fulfilled their word. Thank you my children  and please give me also the Jesus you have. received Jesus as her personal savior

The lady to the right is 88 years old. Her house was destroyed by cyclone Freddy. Before Cyclone Freddy, she was already struggling, but the coming of cyclone made things waste. Life is difficult to bear. Before we came with food, she thought of taking her life and the lives of grandchildren.

We gave them corn flour, sugar and soup. She also received Jesus as their personal savior together with her grandchildren. Now the grandchildren are members of our church. She still needs our support and please pray for her total healing. She got injured during the time the house was falling.

The lady below is 89 years old and is a window. She was depending on this house to ear money from renting. She lives with her 3 grandchildren. They had no food and no drink tea for months. Our arrival was the demonstration that there is God who cares. We had an opportunity to share the word of God and she asked us to help her to receive Jesus her personal savior. We left a big smile on her face and joy. Please remember her in your prayers. She has no money to rebuild her house. The struggles are real.
